DIMENSIONAL CHECKS

Dimensional checks are carried out using a coordinate measuring machine (CMM)

CMMs are computerized numerical control machines for the movement of a measuring device (probe) which allows to determine the spatial coordinates of points belonging to the surfaces of a piece. Typical CMM applications are for quality control (dimensional and geometric inspection in place of dedicated measuring machines) and for reverse engineering (detection of the geometry of unknown surfaces and for their transformation into a mathematical model in a CAD environment).

A typical activity performed with the CMM is the verification of the dimensions required by EN 1090 which specifies the requirements for cutting, shaping, drilling and assembly of the constituent products for inclusion in components and for component assembly.
