NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTS
The non-destructive tests (NDT) allow you to identify any defects present in a component without altering its structural integrity or modifying its properties. The techniques used are generically divided into superficial and volumetric. Sider Test is able to perform non-destructive tests according to the methods listed below, both at its own facilities and at client companies or places (construction sites or plants) where the components to be checked are installed. In addition to these techniques, there are also other types of non-destructive tests, such as the execution of metallographic replicas , the application of strain gauges and the detection of hardnesses using portable hardness testers.
For all the methods listed below, Sider Test has level II and III personnel qualified in accordance with ISO 9712 and SNT-TC-1A .
ULTRASONIC EXAMINATION
Non-destructive method that is based on the propagation of ultrasonic waves in the object to be examined and on the analysis and interpretation of the transmitted signals, reflected or refracted by any defects
RADIOGRAPHY
Volumetric control to highlight defects such as internal discontinuities, voids, blowholes or lack of penetration of the weld. On request also on worksite near the customer
MAGNETIC PARTICLES
Magnetoscopy to locate any surface or sub-surface defects (applicable only for ferromagnetic materials). Non-destructive method performed by qualified personnel also at the customer’s facilities
PENETRANT TEST
To identify any surface defects, such as discontinuities, cracks and failed fusions. The test involves the application of liquids and detectors that make the discontinuities visible
VISUAL EXAMINATION
Conducted by highly qualified personnel to verify the surface quality of the components and to identify defects and non-conformities. With the naked eye or through endoscopes or micro cameras
